It is most important branch of Astanga Ayurveda as per the Susruta School of tradition. Susrata himself was a famous shalya-tantra Vid (Surgeon) who adopted various unique surgical processes which are still relevant to day . That is why many authors of modern surgery even treat him as the ‘father of surgery’. He used to perform all kinds of Shalya-karma (Surgical processes) including the plastic surgery.
The process of Agnikarma and Ksharkarma also are highly praised and practiced to day.
